Bordas & Bordas was created in 1985, with Linda and Jim Bordas as the founding partners. At that time Linda Bordas had just graduated from law school and passed the bar exam after practicing as a hospital pharmacist in Wheeling for many years. Jim Bordas already had a substantial history of practicing successfully in the Wheeling area since 1972.

Making a Difference
Bordas & Bordas has a strong history of contributions to local charities and participation in programs to help those who are less fortunate in the Ohio Valley. This tradition dates back to the earliest days of Jim Bordas' practice and continues today, with substantial firm contributions to local churches, the legal aid society, the YMCA and YWCA, The Children's Home, Easter Seals Rehabilitation, The Nelson Jordan Center, Wheeling Health Right, Make A Wish Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Association, Youth Services, Young Life, Save-A-Pet Project, Caring For Kids, The Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling, and the Marshall County Animal Shelter. In addition, Bordas and Bordas heavily contributed to such state projects as the Legal Aid Clinic for the poor. Each year, Bordas & Bordas, under the leadership of Jim and Linda Bordas, sponsors drives to give Christmas gifts to less fortunate area residents and Jay Stoneking spearheads a campaign to raise funds to send Christmas gifts to poor children overseas.

A Growing Law Firm
In 1991, the firm hired Jay Stoneking, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the West Virginia College of Law. Jay was first in his graduating class and a former law clerk for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Jay is also a minister and spends the bulk of his professional time in the area of appellate practice.

In 1992 the law firm hired Scott Blass, a Phi Beta Kappa Honors graduate of West Virginia School of Law. Scott was named Bordas & Bordas' third partner in 2000. Scott gives tirelessly of himself to our local youth sports organizations, acting as a league commissioner from 1998 to 2003.

In 2000, the firm hired Jamie Bordas an honors graduate of the Notre Dame Law School. Jamie has represented clients in a variety of areas. Jamie Bordas became the firm's fourth partner in 2002 and concentrates his practice in the area of complex litigation, negligence and bad faith insurance practices while also taking a major role in the firm's day-to-day business activities. Jamie is also the assistant coach for the highly successful Wheeling Central football team.

Also hired in 2000 from the Notre Dame Law School was Chris Regan, who has tried cases in West Virginia and Ohio. Chris also maintains a substantial appellate practice, arguing frequently before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and appellate courts in Ohio. Chris concentrates his practice on the firm's complex cases and became the firm's fifth partner in 2005. He is also licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.

In 2002, the firm added a third Notre Dame Law School Graduate, Geoff Brown. A graduate of West Point and an Army Lieutenant, Geoff is involved in a number of areas of practice including simple negligence cases to stock broker fraud, product liability and lender or bank misconduct matters while spending most of his efforts on medical malpractice cases.

Returning to its West Virginia roots, in 2003, the law firm hired Jason Causey.  Jason is a 2003 Order of the Coif graduate of the West Virginia School of Law and issue editor of the West Virginia Law Review. A Wheeling native and strong performer at WVU, Causey is expected to make substantial contributions to Bordas & Bordas in the future.

Since 2000, we have added 4 attorneys. The addition of partners Jamie Bordas and Chris Regan and associates Geoff Brown and Jason Causey makes Bordas & Bordas one of the largest plaintiff's law firms in West Virginia.

Defending Victim's Rights in our Justice System
Our attorneys are sought out by major news organizations to comment on national legal issues. In 2003, Jim Bordas appeared with Connie Chung on CNN to argue against legal proposals to limit the rights of Americans who are injured by wrongful conduct. He has also been featured on Inside Edition and 60 Minutes and At Issue.

Jim and Jamie Bordas also work with West Virginia legislators, accident victims, coal miners, steel workers, and nurses providing advice on the negative consequences of tort reform legislation proposals.
